The top 20 hit from that album LITTLE BRITAIN has since gone on to acquire classic status. Five critically acclaimed albums later they are set to remind people why the Dread sound is still very much a part of the musical landscape of this country. The core members Greg Dread, original bassmaster Leo Williams, the unmistakable MC Spee, legendary Studio One vocalist Earl 16 alongside Chris Compton on guitar and Chris Oldfield on technology make up the new line up. The bands influence extends not only out into the current scene as one of the pioneers of dub based music in this country, but rewinding to back in the day as the rhythm section of Mick Jones’ Big Audio Dynamite in the 80s . Their roots are embedded in the history of West London sound clash and with a drum and bass partnership of 25 years this year Leo and Greg are still rolling strong and rocking the nation with their distinctive rhythms. ...
Band On The Wall, Quaytickets, UK Thu, 9th September 2010 - Thu, 9th September 2010 From £12.50*A home turf showcase of some Manchester's finest psyche and nu folk pioneers featuring the intoxicating sounds of Homelife, Denis Jones and Nancy Elizabeth. Homelife Manchester legend Paddy Steer and long-term collaborator Tony Burnside are Homelife, creating music that is both ethereal yet earthy, with heavy use of acoustic timbres, swarms of coloured percussion, bulbous synths and fresh use of languid Hawaiian guitar. Denis Jones Band on the Wall stalwart Denis Jones has developed a show-stopping live performance based around the core of his exceptional and unique guitar-playing style and rich, soulful voice. Using a loop station and all manner of samplers and effects, Denis creates vast, complex orchestrations of beat-box rhythms, multi-layered vocals and other-wordly sounds which veer from subtle heart-wrenching folk and blues to heavy bass-driven electronica. Nancy Elizabeth Nancy Elizabeth mixes folk and post-rock influences in her enchanting and dynamic music, featuring piano, guitars, dulcimers, harmonium and other instruments alongside her unique voice.
