Bearded Theory 2011
New Bearded Theory Venue, Quaytickets, UK
Fri, 13th May 2011 - Fri, 13th May 2011
From £65.00*

Bearded Theory will be back in 2011, celebrating a new decade and creating something magical yet again from 12th to 15th May 2011. Bearded Theory has been described as an early Glastonbury and has not had an easy time over the past year following a major incident at the 2009 festival. However with praise heaped on the organisers from all corners the event bounced back in 2010 with a fantastic line up and a slick operation. The festival will be heading to a new venue in 2011 and despite the move the festival has frozen its adult ticket prices at £65 and has announced a fantastic early purchase ticket offer. Rich Bryan from Bearded Theory said “This will be the earliest we have sold tickets for the festival but we plan to use to media coverage the 2010 festival creates to promote the tickets being on sale. This will give us an advantage and hopefully sell the festival out a lot quicker. We need to continue to look at new ways of marketing the event and ensuring the longevity of the festival. I am delighted that we can offer a fantastic early bird deals and pleased that the standard price of the adult ticket has not increased despite us moving to plusher surroundings in 2011”. PLEASE NOTE: The venue for the 2011 festival is still to be confirmed and because of that the festival dates are currently provisional and subject to change....

Manchester Jazz Festival: The Stu Brown Sextet presents Twisted Toons: The Music of Raymond Scott
Royal Northern College of Music, Quaytickets, UK
Thu, 29th July 2010 - Thu, 29th July 2010
From £12.00*

The Stu Brown Sextet celebrates the eyeballpopping, hyper-animated ‘cartoon jazz’ of Raymond Scott, ‘the man who made the cartoons swing.’ Though his name is largely unknown, Scott’s remarkable music will be familiar from its use in the Looney Tunes cartoons from the 1940s onwards and, more recently, in Ren and Stimpy and The Simpsons. His manic offbeat compositions lend themselves perfectly to the antics of Bugs, Daffy, Road Runner and their 21st century equivalents. Glasgow-based drummer Stu Brown formed his sextet in 2008 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Raymond Scott’s birth and the group has performed to sell-out crowds across the country. Each of their shows opens with a speciallycommissioned eight minute film by Scott’s son, Stan Warnow, featuring material from his documentary Deconstructing Dad: The Music, Machines and Mystery of Raymond Scott. As the film ends, Scott’s original recording fades and The Stu Brown Sextet takes over. The second half of the concert brings the music further forward with new arrangements and compositions by the band which explore the ground-breaking electronic aspects to Scott’s music-making. Stu Brown drums Brian Molley tenor saxophone Martin Kershaw clarinet Tom MacNiven trumpet Tom Gibbs piano Andy Sharkey double bass...

Tribfest 2010
Beverley Polo Club, Quaytickets, UK
Fri, 20th August 2010 - Sun, 22nd August 2010
From £45.00*

Tribfest is the summer's biggest tribute music festival in East Yorkshire, probably Europe and 2010 will be its 4th year! Tribfest will be held at the Beverley Polo Club next year from 20th-22nd August, subject to licence. The idea of Tribfest is to enable families to enjoy an affordable, fantastic, fun weekend away, meeting fellow festival friends old and new, whilst listening to some great live music - performed on a stage of high quality with big screens and top sound and lighting to accompany this. In 2009 Tribfest booked 20 top tribute bands, specifically chosen to cover a wide range of age groups so at least everyone knows some of the music, or better still all of it! There are also various marquees around the site with lots to do. Lookalikes, VIP area/bar, main bar, local bands, kid zone, trade stands - food and non food. Plus camping is free with your weekend pass! All the regular services you would find at any other major festival are provided, toilets, showers, electrical hook ups, first aid, top security and fun friendly staff. Tribfest has already made some big waves having been nominated for 3 UK Festival Awards in 2009. Tribfest has a capacity of 5,000 so it doesn't get overcrowded like some other festivals, but has achieved great acclaim in such a short space of time....
