The band was formed in the summer of 2005 by guitarists Andy Baker and Chris Clowsley as a result of their desire to not only play but perform the music of Pink Floyd with the same sense of adventure and experimentalism that made the band so unique in the Sixties and Seventies. From the outset their concept has been to capture both the spirit and the tonality of the music without being afraid to add to or adapt the originals to provide that genuine ‘live’ feel. Andy and Chris have over sixty years of playing experience between them and grew up to the sounds of Gilmour bending guitar notes to perfection and spending hours working out just how you get ‘that’ sound. They are joined by Jim Cooper, a fantastic young musician who can find his way around the five-string and fretless bass with the same sense of space and timing as Waters, Andy Dyehouse who has the ability to nail the right keyboard sound and also blows a mean sax and the powerhouse that is Stevie G on percussion. This legendary, world-class band features 3 actual members of THE KINKS, including original member, drummer, Mick Avory who joined the KINKS (at that time still called the Ravens) in January 1964. Mick is still regarded to this day as the backbone of the original KINKS. Bass player, John Dalton, first joined the KINKS in 1966. Shortly after John joined, they were Number One in the charts with “Sunny Afternoon”. John Gosling joined the band in May 1970. When he auditioned he did not realise until later that the backing track he had recorded at the audition was the smash hit “LOLA”. Dave Clarke, the only non-KINK in the band, was recording for New York’s Roulette Records in 1963. Mick Avory met Dave in Los Angeles where he was playing with Noel Redding. Mick and Dave formed the band, Shut Up Frank, many years later. The Wailing Souls are part of the small surviving group of reggae and roots originators still musically active today. The legendary group dates back to the late 1960s. The Wailing Souls members got their start learning from reggae icon Joe Higgs in Jamaica's Trench Town yards and sung alongside other emerging groups at the time including Bob Marley & The Wailers. By the '70s The Wailing Souls attracted interest from preeminent reggae producer Coxson Dodd and began a fruitful recording career. Four decades later the group has amassed three Grammy nominations, has been critically lauded for albums released by Island, Tuff Gong and CBS Records and gained a widespread international following. The Wailing Souls saw large success in the early '90s featuring songs on soundtracks including the certified gold album for Disney's film Cool Runnings. Their 1992 album All Over The World also achieved a great deal of success for the group, selling over 800,000 copies. Tribfest will be held at the Beverley Polo Club next year from 20th-22nd August, subject to licence. The idea of Tribfest is to enable families to enjoy an affordable, fantastic, fun weekend away, meeting fellow festival friends old and new, whilst listening to some great live music - performed on a stage of high quality with big screens and top sound and lighting to accompany this. In 2009 Tribfest booked 20 top tribute bands, specifically chosen to cover a wide range of age groups so at least everyone knows some of the music, or better still all of it!
