Darkside The Garrick, Stockport Plaza, UK Sat, 15th May 2010 - Sat, 15th May 2010 From £10.00*Tickets to Pink Floyd tribute Darkside live at The Garrick in Stockport. The band was formed in the summer of 2005 by guitarists Andy Baker and Chris Clowsley as a result of their desire to not only play but perform the music of Pink Floyd with the same sense of adventure and experimentalism that made the band so unique in the Sixties and Seventies. From the outset their concept has been to capture both the spirit and the tonality of the music without being afraid to add to or adapt the originals to provide that genuine ‘live’ feel. Andy and Chris have over sixty years of playing experience between them and grew up to the sounds of Gilmour bending guitar notes to perfection and spending hours working out just how you get ‘that’ sound. They are joined by Jim Cooper, a fantastic young musician who can find his way around the five-string and fretless bass with the same sense of space and timing as Waters, Andy Dyehouse who has the ability to nail the right keyboard sound and also blows a mean sax and the powerhouse that is Stevie G on percussion. Stevie has been on the rock circuit for longer than he cares to admit to but is relishing the new challenge that Mason’s unique and quirky drum style is presenting....

The answer is Skip McDonald, now known by his stage moniker Little Axe and his raucous blues-based sound. Skip made his name as an integral part of the Sugar Hill house band playing on the most influential early rap classics and as part of Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sound crew he has made some of the most adventurous and praised UK music of the last twenty years. As Little Axe Skip returns to exploring the rich blues tradition that he grew up with and learned from his father and thus, intriguingly, bringing black American music full circle. A rare opportunity to see one of the main driving forces in the creation of modern urban black music in action. Blistering stuff. This concert will begin at 7.30pm....

In the early to mid-1980s, she emerged from the same Greenwich Village folk scene that had spawned Bob Dylan and Joan Baez twenty years previously. In 1990, her career received an extra boost when UK-based rap duo DNA released a remix of a cappella song 'Tom's Diner', which charted world-wide. She has inspired a whole new generation of musicians - Beth Orton and Alanis Morrisette spring to mind - and tonight is another chance to hear those beautiful songs and Suzanne's hauntingly fragile vocals.
