Highland Whisky Experience with Scone Palace Gray Line Edinburgh, Edinburgh Tue, 10th August 2010 - Thu, 31st March 2011 From £27.00*Scotland has been blessed with many Iconic brands, Kilts, Tartan, Haggis, Golf and Bagpipes but Whisky is surely the one appreciated most throughout the world. So when in Scotland what better place is there to experience Whisky than "The Glenturret Distillery", the oldest in Scotland. Men have debated for centuries exactly what goes with Whisky, water? Soda? Ginger Ale? more whisky? Why not try a palace where the Kings of Scotland where crowned for about 500 years. From Edinburgh we will head north over the Forth Road Bridge giving us views of arguably the Best bridge in the World, The Forth Bridge (rail) then on through Perth on the banks of the river Tay. At Scone Palace, the only permanently inhabited Palace in Scotland, we have time to visit the Palace and grounds or if you wish just the grounds where you can see where the Kings of Scotland where crowned sitting on the stone of destiny until it was taken to England in 1296 and placed in Westminster Abbey until returned to Scotland after 700 years, 1996. There are also the remains of the original village demolished and moved to improve the gardens. Along with the David Douglas Pavilion (Douglas Fir) born at scone, botanic areas and Perthshires only Maze. Theres plenty to see. After a drive through scenic Highland countryside we will arrive at Glenturret Distillery. Started by William Gloag, son of a cellar man at Scone Palace and home of The Famous Grouse, The best selling Whisky in Scotland! With time for lunch in the Famous Restaurant and a tour which includes a brand new interactive show. A more traditional distillery tour AND a tasting straight from the cask. You will find Glenturret an unforgettable visit. We will head home taking a leisurely drive through Gleneagles, home to the world famous hotel and Golf Course and Dunfermline, burial place to many of the Kings crowned at Scone. Even if Whisky is not to your taste you will enjoy The Experience Tour Info 2010/2011 Apr - Oct: Tues, Thurs and Sat @ 9am Nov - Mar: Thurs @ 9am Running Time: 9 Hrs
