She now enters the next decade with a new band and a stunning new album The Quickening. Citing her influences as Nina Simone, Nick Drake, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, The Velvet Underground and Stevie Smith, her restrained, sometimes spartan arrangements gradually reveal complex and beautiful songs of great emotional depth and intelligence.
