City of London - Original Sightseeing Tour, London Fri, 14th May 2010 - Thu, 31st March 2011 From £20.00*London Duck Tours offer more than just a sightseeing tour; it's an exciting road and river adventure appealing to visitors of all ages! The amphibious craft, originally known as 'DUKWS' were first used for the D-Day landings when more than 21,000 were built to take the troops ashore. To reflect their amphibious nature they have been renamed 'Ducks' for the London adventure. Departing from County Hall, our amphibious vehicles drive past famous London landmarks such as Big Ben & The House of Parliament and Trafalgar Square before a dramatic launch into the Thames from our slipway at Vauxhall for the water bourne part of the 70 minute tour. The excitement of seeing the capital in this novel way is enhanced by an entertaining, action packed commentary by our guides providing an alternative view of London's history, plus fascinating facts and figures about the Duck vehicles themselves. The vehicles have been extensively refurbished and fitted with the latest environmentally friendly diesel engines, seating for 30 passengers, a public address system and regulatory safety equipment. Tour Info Tours are dependent upon Dusk and subject to demand frequency can be increased. Week day tours outside of peak periods (weekends and school / public holidays) operate every half an hour to an hour and start at 10:30am. Weekends and peak periods every 15 minutes and start at 10am. Last tours (may vary slightly but this is a general guideline):- January - 3pm February - 4pm March - 5pm April up to and including September - 6pm. October - 4:30pm November - 3pm December - 2:30pm Dates when tour does not run: 24th, 25th, 26th & 31st December & 1st January & also every Monday & Tuesday in January. Running Times: 70mins PLEASE NOTE Once you have purchased tickets from us, you will need to call 020 7928 3132 at least 72 hours before travel to reserve a tour date and time. Tours are daily from 10am to 6pm June-September; 11am-Dusk November-May (weekends and school holiday periods start at 10am). You will be asked to choose a date to complete the booking process but that date is not guaranteed until you have confirmed it by telephone. ALL passengers must be instructed to arrive 15 MINUTES PRIOR to their departure time. Late passengers that MISS their departure will be CHARGED as a NO SHOW. If there is space on a later tour the passengers will BE CHARGED FULL PRICE on the spot. The tours are in English only if your group/passengers require an interrupter you must book an exclusive hire so not to disrupt other passengers or our tour guide. Tickets are non refundable and non transferable on day of travel. Cancellation of leisure tickets MUST BE DONE 24 hours prior to travel DATE & TIME. Cancellation of Exclusive Hires and Large groups MUST BE DONE 7 Days prior to travel DATE.
