Mercury Musical Developments is an organisation dedicated to the craft of writing books, music and lyrics for musical theatre. The Sounds Of England initiative aims to help writers discover their original voice. The Lowry will host two original new thirty minute musicals called The Signalman and Moving On. The Signalman Presents the chilling Victorian ghost story in three short scenes set over three consecutive evenings – A gentleman on vacation in the English countryside happens upon an isolated signalbox with mysterious and sinister consequences… Moving On An Underground Lost Property man invites us to search though his shelves of lost items. As he touches objects he conjures up fragments of people’s lives echoes of lives past and present just like ours. Forgotten, dropped or discarded under London. Will The Signalman or Moving On be the next Les Miserables, Blood Brothers or Billy Elliott? Come along and find out! Both shows presented one after the other on both nights
