Yellow's on the Broom Festival
Sillyflatt Farm, Quaytickets
Sat, 22nd May 2010 - Sun, 23rd May 2010
From £20.00*

The Yellow's on the Broom 2010 Sillyflatt Farm, Inverbervie 11th International Music & Arts Festival 22nd & 23rd May 2010 - 7.30pm The annual event hosting a renowned variety of international and world-class Scottish acts for another fun-packed weekend! Something for everyone! Intermingled with live music on the main stage are other magic, aerial and surprise acts. The Festival is having its eleventh consecutive year at Sillyflatt Farm, Inverbervie, on the evenings of Saturday May 22nd, and Sunday May 23rd 2010 at 7.30PM. Sillyflatt Farm is situated one mile south of the 'Royal Burgh' of Inverbervie, and is accessed directly from the A92 Stonehaven to Montrose "Coast Road", near the turn-off for the coastal village of Gourdon. With expensive and packed festivals taking over Scotland’s entertainment calendar and becoming uniformly muddy, looking for that something extra that celebrates Music and the Arts can be difficult. Then there's the Yellow's on the Broom Festival - and it's in a barn! The Yellow’s on the Broom Team once more present international world-class acts at their eleventh festival on Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd of May at Sillyflatt Farm, Inverbervie. Argentine Tango and Cumbia on Saturday and Sunday from Manosanta for all lovers of Latin rythm and finally, on Sunday, the passion culminates with Scotland's own Donnie Munro Band. FROM his days as lead singer with Runrig to fronting his own band, Donnie Munro has always thrilled and moved audiences with his unique voice and style and now, the famous frontman, with seven of Scotland’s finest musicians, will be appearing at the eleventh Yellow's on the Broom International Music & Arts Festival on Sunday 23 May 2010. As Donnie himself says "I have always believed that music is only really fully brought to life by the great chemistry of performer and audience coming together through live performance to share in the emotion and passion of the song and it is very much a two way process in which (the) audience plays a very major part". Manosanta live in the 'Midi' area of the South of France near Avignon. From Argentina, their song lyrics follow the "Tangueros" tradition infused with Latin Hip Hop and an African tonality - truly enchanting. This is the only UK opportunity to catch these big names of the French and World Music festival scene. Appearing over the evenings of the weekend are other six bands on two stages, spectacular aerial acts, an illusionist and various other surprises. The emphasis is on quality and unusual acts that represent Scottish and international music and dance. The culinary arts are also not left out as catering on site provides ample refreshment with hamburgers, German wurst, Scottish stovies and French crepe and gallettes. Other attractions are music, craft and dance tuition workshops offered in the afternoons by festival performers and other experts These workshops take place in the delightful setting of the Mill of Benholm - only 5 minutes drive or a pleasant half hour's country walk from Sillyflatt Farm. The packed program of this popular Mearns two day festival takes place inside a barn transformed by the dedication of the teams of volunteers and the generosity of the farm owner. Seating at genuine 'Biergarten' tables on wooden flooring provides for good views of the two stages and the dance floor area. As a family-friendly festival, the organisers would like to stress under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. The festival has a professionally run bar so there is no requirement to bring alcoholic drinks to this event - any drinks brought in will be confiscated. Also to note is that the doors open at 7.15, music starts at 7.30pm and doors close at 10.00pm. LINE-UP Saturday 22nd May Main Stage: Headline Act TBC, Manosanta, The Moozie Allstars + more TBC Side Stage: Harry Mudini + more TBC Sunday 23rd May Main Stage: Donnie Munro & Band, Manosanta + more TBC Side Stage: Harry Mudini + more TBC Special Acts TBC
