The bet365 Gold Cup, previously know as the Whitbread Gold Cup, has attracted some legendary winners over the years – Desert Orchid, Arkle and Special Cargo, to name just a few. It is always among the most popular races in our calendar and is a must-see event. Besides the racing, the day offers a rare opportunity to witness a parade of the jump season’s equine champions, which in 2009 included Kauto Star, Denman, Mon Mome, Big Bucks and Voy Por Ustedes. Industry champions are also honoured prior to racing with an awards ceremony for the Champion Jockey, Trainer and Owner, and the unique character of the meeting is further reflected by our Flat vs Jump jockeys race, which launches the afternoon’s card. The day has become renowned for its after-party, which in recent years has featured Irish rock from The Saw Doctors. 2010 will be no different, with live music courtesy of The Saw Doctors after racing to bring the festivities to a rousing finale in the Parade Ring.
