Cadogan Hall, London
Tue, 6th November 2007 - Tue, 6th November 2007
From £10.00*

Meet the artists, pre concert talk from 6.20pm presented by Edward Seckerson (Chief Music Critic, Independent and BBC presenter). Weber composed his opera Obreron for London. The Overture is a magical and exuberant curtain raiser. Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.1 also has a magical properties, a concise work of fantasy, brilliant dash and emotional intensity. Brahms waited many years to write his First Symphony – he complained of being in the shadow of Beethoven – and when it did appear it epitomized a sense of triumph over adversity in music full of passion beauty and an inexorable sense of light emerging from darkness. Conductor - Leonard Slatkin Violin - Chloë Hanslip Performance Times: 7.30pm
