The William Blake Klezmatrix National Portrait Gallery, London Thu, 29th November 2007 - Thu, 29th November 2007 From £5.00*The William Blake Klezmatrix is a poetry/music collaborative formed to fill a palpably glaring gap - the widespread performance of William Blake’s most lyrical texts. Blake himself is said to have delighted in singing, and presumably called his most celebrated publication ’Songs of Innocence’ because he meant them to be sung. As well as versions of Blake’s lyrics, the band, which tonight features Madeline Solomon on flute, Annie Whitehead ontrombone, Michael Horovitz on anglo-saxophone, and all three vocalising diverse jazz-poems, klezmer and other folk music and song, plus jazz, blues, calypso and original compositions and improvisations.
