Lisa O’Hare is now starring as ’Mary Poppins’ in Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s smash hit West End musical "MARY POPPINS" at the Prince Edward Theatre. Her theatre work includes "Acorn Antiques", "Anything Goes" and starring as ’Eliza Doolittle’ in the UK national tour of "My Fair Lady". She was in the original cast of "MARY POPPINS", when she covered and performed the title role on several occasions. At the same time, Rebecca Thornhill took over the role of ’Winifred Banks’, Zee Asha ’Mrs Brill’, Romy Baskerville ’Birdwoman’ and Howard Jones ’Robertson Ay’. Rebecca Thornhill was nominated for a 2001 Olivier Award for "Singin’ in the Rain" and she has also starred in the West End productions of "Chicago", "The Witches of Eastwick", "Les Miserables" and "Disney’s Beauty and the Beast". Zee Asha stared as ’Mama Morton’ in the West End production of "Chicago" and has been seen in the UK national tours of "Blood Brothers" and "Disney’s Beauty and the Beast". Romy Baskerville has worked extensively in theatre throughout the country and was in "Naked" at the Almedia Theatre and "The Tempest" and "Bingo" at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Howard Jones, who is currently playing ’Northbrook’ and understudying ’Bert’ in "MARY POPPINS", made his West End debut in "Chicago" and has subsequently appeared in Germany in "Tranz der Vampire" American star Gavin Creel continues to star as ’Bert’, with Aden Gillett as ’George Banks’, Louise Gold as ’Miss Andrew’ and Ray C Davis as ’Park Keeper’. "MARY POPPINS" entered its third triumphant year at the Prince Edward Theatre in December 2006. "MARY POPPINS" has now opened on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre and stars Ashley Brown in the title role and London’s original ’Bert’, Gavin Lee. The internationally renowned and multi award-winning creative team assembled for "MARY POPPINS" is led by stage and film director Richard Eyre. Co-direction & choreography is by Matthew Bourne and co-choreography is by Stephen Mear. Set and costume design is by Bob Crowley. Lighting design is by Howard Harrison, sound by Andrew Bruce and orchestrations by William David Brohn. "MARY POPPINS" includes many of the original songs from the film with music and lyrics by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman. The new stage production has been created, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh by Oscar-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who has written the book, and the Olivier award-winning British team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who have written the new songs and additional music and lyrics. PLEASE NOTE: MARY POPPINS is recommended for children 7 years and up. The running time is approximately 2 hours 50 minutes with one interval. In the interest of other patrons, parents with children are reminded that they may be asked to remove any consistently noisy children.
