The Coronation of Poppea The Coliseum, London Thu, 18th October 2007 - Tue, 6th November 2007 From £16.00*NEW PRODUCTION Making a welcome return to the London Coliseum, director Chen Shi-Zheng follows the critical success of his sumptuous staging of Orfeo with this highly anticipated new production of Monteverdi’s last opera, The Coronation of Poppea. Enriched by cinematic qualities, it provides the perfect vehicle for the cream of young British talent – Kate Royal, Christine Rice, Tim Mead and Lucy Crowe – who are joined by one of Britain’s most celebrated singers, Robert Lloyd, and conductor Laurence Cummings, an early music specialist. A co-production with the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Supported by Lord and Lady Laidlaw, a syndicate of donors and the American Friends of ENO 7 performances.
