Based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family and the good natured Maria, THE SOUND OF MUSIC was the last collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, becoming one of the most successful Oscar-winning film musicals of all time. This timeless family classic will be directed by Jeremy Sams (Spend Spend Spend, Passion and West End and Broadway productions of Noises Off). He is joined by renowned choreographer and dance expert Arlene Phillips (We Will Rock You, Starlight Express, Grease, Saturday Night Fever) and designer Robert Jones (On the Town, Noises Off and Heroes) to bring this vibrant new production to the London stage. BBC Television’s ’How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?’ found the star of this new West End production of the Sound of Music - Welsh actress, Connie Fisher. Connie is scheduled to perform as Maria in all 8 shows each week. However, refunds on tickets will not be granted due to the non-apprearance of any particular cast members. Connie will not be performing at the following performances: Connie will be on holiday for two weeks 16th to 28th July 2007 during which time Aoife Mulholland will play the six performances Connie would normally be scheduled to appear in. Also confirmed holiday dates for Connie are 13th to 24th November. On her doctor’s instructions, she will now be playing six shows each week. As of the 26th March 2007, Connie Fisher will not play the Monday evening or Wednesday matinee performances. From mid-April 2007, Monday evenings and Wednesday matinees will be played by fellow "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" finalist Aoife Mulholland. Aoife Mulholland is currently starring as ’Roxie Hart’ in the West End production of "Chicago" at the Cambridge Theatre where she will continue to perform until Saturday 31st March 2007. Until that time, Sophie Bould will play ’Maria’ for the performances that Connie Fisher/Aoife Mulholland will not be performing each week. Fiona Sinnott will play ‘The Baroness’, Paul Grunert ‘Max’, Amy Lennox ‘Liesl’ and Luke Fredericks ‘Rolf’ in the smash hit new production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “THE SOUND OF MUSIC” at the London Palladium from 24 September.. Simon Burke will star as ‘Captain Von Trapp’ and Margaret Preece will continue to play ‘Mother Abbess’.
